HOLY SPIRIT RETREAT DAY AT ST. BEDE'S On 27th April we welcome ADoRE (Alton Day of Renewal) who will lead a special retreat day on receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit, for the building up of the Church. Many people mistakenly think that Joel's prophecy "I will pour out my Spirit on all" applies only to the Apostles and other special Saints; but Vatican 2 clarified that the Holy Spirit "distributes special graces among the faithful of every rank." The free mini-retreat will explain in more depth how the gifts of the Holy Spirit are made available to all baptised people and it is our privilege and responsibility to use them to spread the good news of our faith, The day starts with Adoration at 9.30am and Mass at 10.00 followed by a coffee break. At 11.15 the programme continues with Praise & Worship, Prophecy and Prayer, and an inspiring talk by Kristina Cooper. Lunch break is at 1,00 - please bring food for a shared picnic lunch. In the afternoon there will be Healing prayer ministry. The retreat finishes at 3.30pm. A time to ponder; to think about the sacrifice Jesus made for us and to marvel that if we were the only person in the world, Jesus would still have died to save us and that applies to everyone. If that isn’t a great reason to reflect and be thankful, I’m not sure what is.
