In order to keep each other safe, save lives and support the NHS, the bishops of England and Wales have suspended public worship.
What will change
- Our churches are closed
- Masses will continue but with no congregation physically present, during the week and on Sundays. Other celebrations, such as Stations of the Cross or Rosary are also suspended
- Your obligation to attend Sunday Mass is also suspended temporarily
What won’t change
- Priests will continue to say Mass in private
- Our live-streamed Masses will continue at St Bede’s
Join in our live-streamed Masses
Instead of receiving Jesus in physical form, make this Spiritual Communion instead:
I believe that you are present in this Holy Sacrament of the altar.
I love you above all things
and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul.
Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
come spiritually into my soul
so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever.
Praying at home
Take time each day for prayer. This simple liturgy could help you structure your time with God.
